With the advent of digital technology
and the three worldwide digital TV
broadcasting standard, the drives for
the introduction of Digital TV
Terrestrial Transmission is creating
both challenges and opportunities for
broadcasters around the world.
This was the message conveyed by Mr Lim
Sam Lee, during his seminar on”
Migration from Analogue to Digital
Broadcasting” on 5th June 2004 to a
gathering of IEE members and ITB
students at the Ministry of
Communication.
He also updated the members on the
development of digital TV in UK,
Australia, China, Korea, Singapore and
what services are being planned in these
respective countries. It was interesting
to note that some of these countries
have already introduced TV Mobile
services and HDTV (High Definition
Television) services.
He also touched on the development of
iTV (interactive TV) services. This, he
said would be an important step in
realizing the potential for TV in
digital age.
