Twenty-six
members of IET, previously known as IEE
Brunei Branch attended the 9th annual
general meeting recently.
Former chairman, Mr Ang Kian Guan, gave
an overview of all the programmes and
events participated and organised by IET
for the year 2006.
The IET Brunei Branch Honorary Treasurer
gave a financial year report.
Members were briefed about "IET
Mentoring Services" in a presentation by
IPRA (International Professional
Registration) Adviser Mr Lim Sam Lee.
Lim gave an overview of the mentoring
services, which IET Brunei Branch hopes
to provide to assist members in their
professional development.
IET expects a mentor to be a suitably
experienced person willing and able to
act as a confidential helper and guide
to another engineer to stimulate
professional development and make it
more effective, he said.
Lim touched on the mentoring services
objectives, the mentor matching process,
roles of mentor, benefits of mentoring
and others.

auditors were presented.
The elected new committee members for
2006/2007 are as follows: Honorary
Chairman : Hj Rahman Hj Mudin, Immediate
Past Chairman : Ang Kian Guan, Honorary
Vice Chairman : Goh Kok Lai, Honorary
Secretary : Terry Jayasuriya, Honorary
Assistant Secretary : Chua Ley Hoon,
Honorary Treasurer : Tang Shi Siong,
IPRA (International Professional
Registration Adviser) : Mr Lim Sam Lee,
while elected 12 Honorary committee
management members include: Dr William
Voon, Simon Leong , Ong Wee Hong, Koh
Kian Chan, Lim Kian Boon Robinson Goh,
Soo Kok Ping, Ong Wee Hong and Liaw Wai
Khiong.
Ang Kian Guan was appointed honorary
vice chairman during the IET Far East
Region conference recently held in Hong
Kong.
Meanwhile, the elected chairman is from
Hong Kong, the secretary is from
Singapore and the treasurer from
Malaysia.
