The two-day
IECEx 2008 Industry Symposium concluded
yesterday in a ceremony held at the
Brunei Asia Pacific Shell learning Hub
where certificates were handed out to
all its participants.
The event, which was organised by the
Institution of Engineering and
Technology (IET) Brunei Network in
collaboration with IEC-APRC and IECEx,
was supported by the Energy Division,
Prime Minister's Office and Construction
Planning & Research Unit, Ministry of
Development, Brunei Darussalam.
The symposium featured a number of talks
that were presented by various speakers
including Mr Allan Ogden from Baseefa-uk
who spoke on Integrating IECEx and ATEX,
Mr Manggau Galawing, Brunei Shell
Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad, who
spoke on Ex Equipment Training Facility,
Mr Roy Francis of CEAG Germany who spoke
on Test requirements on Group II and
Group III enclosures in accordance with
IEC 60079-0, Ms Kim Lim, Measurement
Technology Limited (MTL), Singapore who
spoke on ATEX Directives and
International Standards Review from a
Manufacturers Viewpoint, Dr Thorsten
Arnhold of Stahl, Germany spoke on An
ATEX Directive Domiciled Manufacturer's
Approach & Experience Towards IECEx
Certification, and Ms Caroline Voon Oi
Mee, Brunei Shell Petroleum Company
Sendirian Berhad spoke on Technology
Advancement with Respect to Ex
Compliance.
The event also presented an Ex Industry
Workshop Session facilitated by Mr Chris
Agius, IECEx Secretariat, Australia and
concluded with a summary of the
symposium (Vision, Way Forward and
Follow-up Actions on the Ex Symposium)
delivered by Dr William Voon of IET/BSP.
IET Brunei network will be organising an
international conference from May 26 to
28 2008. The theme of the conference is
"Sustainable Energy Management in the
Era of Information and Communication
Technology".
IET Brunei network would like to call
for papers from interested parties. The
closing date for abstract submission is
on February 23, 2008. There will also be
an exhibition during the conference. For
