IET Brunei attended IEA PVPS Workshop

On 2nd March 2009, two delegates from IET Brunei attended the International Energy Agency Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (IEA PVPS) Workshop at Putrajaya, Shangri-La, Malaysia. The Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) is a collaborative R&D Agreement established within the International Energy Agency (IEA) and implementing projects on the application of solar photovoltaic electricity.

Malaysia is the first ASEAN country to become the full member (official) of the IEA PVPS on October 2008.

The IEA PVPS workshop was opened by Yang Berusaha Pn Badriyah Hj Abd Malek, Undersecretary Sustainable Energy Development Division, Ministry of Energy, Water & Communications.

During the workshop, the following countries:- Australia, France, Austria, Denmark, Canada, Japan, Germany, US, and Spain presented and shared on the Roles, Status of PV Policy and Market within their countries. There is a drive towards PV technology to promote renewable energy sources and preserve the environment by reducing fossil fuel consumption globally. The cost for the PV has reduced over the years and the national feed-in tariff rate will provide incentive to the PV implementation.
