IET Brunei Visits Royal Brunei Air ForcE

IET Brunei members including engineers and academics paid a technical visit to the Royal Brunei Air Force at its Rimba Air Base. The Royal Brunei Air Force was established in 1965. The roles of the Royal Brunei Air Force are the defense of national airspace, air surveillance of national land and maritime borders, air support for land defense, maritime defense and national tasks.

RBAirForce Senior Engineering Officer gave the group a thorough presentation on the operations of the RBAirForce, particularly the Logistics Wing. The Senor Engineering Officer explained to the group on the organizational structure of RBAirForce, its multi-roles, the different aircraft in RBAirForce and the different stages of the maintenance operations. The visitors learned on the stringent quality control in maintenance and operation of air fleets.

Muhamad Ayub Khan Abdul Rauf Khan showed excellent academic performance in his National Diploma program in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College (Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal). Muhamad Ayub Khan participated in various technical activities including the OGDC Robocon Challenge and construction of college arch. In addition, he is an active student council member in his college and is active in sports.

During the visit, the visitors had the privilege to see the actual operations of the RBAirForce Logistics Wing. The visitors were guided to the various supporting departments, the hangar floors where the Engineering Squadrons are, the overhaul bay, structure bay, engine bay and the avionics workshop. The visitors also got upclose with the Bell and Blackhawk helicopters and fixed wing trainer and transport aircraft.
